On Wednesday, June 28th the Rotary Club of Lake Murray-Irmo was able to present four local non-profits with a grant through their small gifts and grants program. This is made possible through the fundraising efforts. Because of this Babcock Center, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Sister Care, and The USO were all able to receive checks at Wednesday’s meeting. Thank you to the club members for all the hard work you put into fundraising for the club.

- June is designated Rotary Fellowships Month to recognize the importance of international fellowship and goodwill among Rotarians with similar recreational and vocational interests, promote increased participation in fellowships, and increase understanding of this program.
- Fellowship provides opportunities for Rotarians to make lasting friendships outside their own Club, District or country.
Tracey Rankin will be speaking to our club on Wednesday, March 8th. She heard about Happy Wheels, a South Carolina children’s charity, via Facebook. After volunteering and witnessing the program first-hand in Charleston, Tracey knew she had a great passion for it. In 2009 she started the Happy Wheels chapter in Columbia. Three years later (February 2012), she began the newest program in Greenville, SC. In 2012, Happy Wheels became a 501(c)(3) non-profit which enabled Tracey to quit her job and work solely for Happy Wheels. Tracey currently sits as the Vice President of Happy Wheels’ board, is the Executive Director of the non-profit and the Program Director of the Columbia program. Today, Happy Wheels continues to flourish and is supported statewide by many selfless donors and volunteers.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the BBQ fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Lake Murray-Irmo on Thursday. Special thanks to those who volunteered to deliver plates to the various businesses and people in the area.
