In 2010, 2011, and 2012, the ROTARY CLUB OF LAKE MURRAY-IRMO FOUNDATION organized and ran the Tour de Lake, a 100 mile bike ride around Lake Murray, starting and finishing at the Saluda Shoals Park. Registered riders numbered from 65 to 100+. While the event was successful financially in all years, the effort involved was beyond our capability to sustain even though the riders were all enthusiastic about it from the beginning.

Many sponsors chose to use the Foundation’s 501c3 status for their donations. We are also supporting donations to recognize the service of Christina Melton, PhD, former Superintendent of Richland-Lexington District Five Schools. At the request of Rotary Club of Chapin Sunrise, we are accepting donations to fund a water project through Rotary International to provide clean water to the village of Villa Nazao, in the mountainous Paraiso region of Southwest Dominican Republic.
